Leaving his home in Kerala at the tender age of eight, Shankara walked over a thousand miles northward across dense forests, rivers, and rugged mountains. His spiritual intuition led him straight to the sacred banks of the Narmada River at Omkareshwar, the destined seat of his spiritual master.
